SCHEDULE

This is a day-shift position, Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Support the morning launch of the fleet, responding to mechanical problems identified by drivers and independently troubleshooting and repairing issues to get trucks safely into service.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, air, and other common commercial-truck problems.
• Perform preventive maintenance (PM) services and comprehensive vehicle inspections as needed.
• Review driver DVIRs, diagnose reported problems, and complete necessary repairs.
• Diagnose and repair air brake systems and drum and disc brake components.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and starting/charging system problems.
• Diagnose and repair air systems, steering and suspension components, cooling systems, and other chassis-related systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems and components used on waste collection equipment.

• Remove, install, repair, and replace commercial truck tires and wheels.
• Perform operational checks as appropriate to verify repairs and proper equipment operation.
• Recognize problems requiring advanced diagnosis, major repair, specialized equipment, or additional assistance and communicate those issues to your supervisor.
Identify and order parts needed for repairs and help ensure required parts and supplies are available when needed.
Maintain an accurate inventory of commonly used parts and supplies.
• Monitor equipment failures and parts usage and communicate with your supervisor about parts that should be stocked based on recurring failures and fleet needs.
Accurately document inspections, diagnosis, maintenance, and repairs performed, including work completed and parts used.
Clearly communicate equipment condition, repair status, and safety concerns to your supervisor and other members of the maintenance team.
Remove from service and lock out trucks or equipment that are unsafe to operate in accordance with Company procedures, and immediately communicate the condition to your supervisor.

• Maintain tools, shop equipment, and work areas in safe and organized condition.
• Follow Company safety procedures and properly use required tools and personal protective equipment.

This is not an entry-level mechanic position. Successful candidates should be comfortable working independently and have enough commercial-truck or heavy-equipment experience to diagnose common problems and complete repairs without continuous supervision.

Qualifications:

• Must meet applicable requirements for performing commercial motor vehicle brake work. Candidates should have at least one year of qualifying commercial vehicle brake experience or have completed an applicable brake training program.
