Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates, ensuring accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support medication administration under supervision and ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, memory impairments, or behavioral health needs through compassionate engagement and tailored interventions.
- Maintain aseptic techniques during procedures such as catheter care or wound management to prevent infection.
- Assist with medical procedures like phlebotomy or specimen collection when trained and certified.
- Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare team members in acute care settings such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers, ensuring seamless patient service across inpatient and outpatient environments.
- Support patients with developmental disabilities or those requiring hospice or palliative care by delivering respectful and empathetic assistance aligned with their individual care plans.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in accordance with state regulations.
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (including ICU, emergency medicine, OR), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care settings.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS).
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for accurate medical documentation.
- Prior experience with specialized care areas such as dementia care, behavioral health, infectious disease management or sub-acute care is highly desirable.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals of all ages including pediatrics and geriatrics; experience working with children is a plus.
- Strong communication skills coupled with a compassionate caregiving attitude; ability to work well under pressure in fast-paced environments like urgent care or trauma centers.
