The emergency department is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week with board certified physicians and advanced level practitioners who are well-trained to treat emergency needs. MercyOne Elkader Medical Center is certified as a Level IV Trauma Center by the Iowa Department of Public Health.

As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) at MercyOne, you will be under general supervision of OTR, the COTA screens, assesses, implements and provides occupational therapy treatment for patients. The COTA assists the OTR in the evaluation process. Possesses the skills necessary to provide direct patient care specific to each age group in accordance with departmental policy. The age of the patients served range in age from infants to geriatrics.

- Associate degree as Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program
- Licensure (or eligibility for licensure) by the State of Iowa to practice as an Occupational Therapy Assistant
