Medical Surgical RN Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care utilizing the nursing process
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
- Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes appropriately
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
- Ensure patient rights, safety, and confidentiality are maintained
- Delegate and evaluate care provided by other direct caregivers
- Educate patients and families regarding treatments and care plans
- Build strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Care for a diverse patient population with varying medical needs
- Develop a strong foundation for future nursing career growth
- Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Gain valuable experience in acute care nursing
- Education: Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program (Associate Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
- Licensure: Must obtain and maintain a current RN license in the state of practice and/or compact licensure as required and meet all state board of nursing requirements.
- Certifications: Completion of hospital-required nursing competencies, mandatory education requirements, and relevant certifications (BLS, etc.) within required timeframes.
