This is a full time non-exempt position, which may include overtime on an as needed basis. The schedule is Monday thru Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with occasional Saturdays.
Job Overview
Mercy Ridge is home to over 500 Independent Living residents and 48 Assisted Living residents who are passionate about staying active through biking, swimming, walking, fitness classes and wellness programs.
We are seeking an energetic Fitness & Aquatics Coordinator who enjoys working with older adults and loves helping others in their wellness journey. This role leads a variety of fitness and aquatics classes, supports residents in the Fitness Center and pool, and helps create engaging wellness programs for residents of all abilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead a variety of land and aquatic fitness classes including aerobics, strength, balance, and seated exercise.
- Assist in planning and implementing wellness programs and challenges.
- Conduct Senior Fitness Assessments and design individualized fitness programs.
- Supervise and assist residents in the Fitness Center and pool to ensure safe use of equipment.
- Provide one-on-one fitness guidance as needed.
- Collaborate with therapy staff to support residents transitioning from therapy to fitness programs.
- Support wellness opportunities for Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care residents.
- Assist with pool operations, sanitation, and occasional lifeguarding duties.
- Support community wellness events and employee wellness initiatives.
Qualifications
- Background in fitness, exercise science, or related field preferred
- Certified Personal Trainer (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NASM, etc.) preferred, not required.
- Lifeguard certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Experience working with older adults preferred, not required.
- Strong communication skills and ability to lead group classes.
Technology Skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and other computer programming
- Comfortable using iPads, Bluetooth speakers, and fitness technology.
