The MA may assist with clinical procedures, maintains accurate documentation, and provides administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations. The MA functions within their defined scope of practice (based on office type clinic/HOD), under supervision, and in alignment with Mercy's mission and standards of care.
Sign-On Bonus Incentives for Medical Assistant & Licensed Practical Nurse:
Medical Assistant: $3,000
Licensed Practical Nurse: $5,000

Education: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Experience: 2 years of Medical Assistant experience.

Licensure: Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; Consideration will be given for comparable education experience and successful licensure. - New hire must attend MA Clinic Academy training.
- All competency completed for Advanced Medical Assistant.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Experience: 2 years of Medical Assistant experience.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with EHR systems and clinical documentation.
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Knowledge of common outpatient procedures and equipment.

- Demonstrates knowledge of varying differences and behaviors among populations served.
Work Environment:
- Outpatient clinical setting with frequent patient interaction.
- Requires standing, walking, lifting, and use of clinical equipment.
- Potential exposure to infectious materials; PPE provided.
Physical Requirements:
- Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
- Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

- S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
- IV Certification within 1 year of hire
- Other unit-specific certifications as required.
- Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
