“What does it pay?”

Up to about $70,000 a year, depending on the hours your member is authorized for. Weekly, from published rate bands.

“What’s the catch with the $500?”

Two conditions: sixty days of continuous employment and verified visits. Then $500 arrives as taxable wages, automatically. It is paid for staying, not for a client.

“Do I lose my client in the transfer?”

No. Your member chooses their agency and tells their Case Manager. We do the paperwork.

“How long does the transfer take?”

There's a processing period. We won't promise a date we can't stand behind.

“What about my schedule?”

Your hours follow your member's care plan, not our shift board.

“My person has more hours than one caregiver can be paid for.”

We hire a second caregiver from the same family. The hours are not lost.

“Who picks up when something goes wrong on a shift?”

Someone who knows which client you are calling about.

“When do I do my notes?”

In the home, on the clock, on your phone.

“What do I actually do?”

Personal care, bathing and dressing, transfers, meals, light housekeeping, medication reminders and delegated health maintenance activities.

“I care for my own mother through IHSS. Is this for me?”

Yes. Family caregivers are exactly who this is for.

“What do you need from me?”

A current or recent IHSS or CFC member. 18 or older, authorized to work in the U.S., a background check, required training and reliable transportation.

“Who is Mercy?”

Family-owned in Aurora since 1997, on the state's approved IHSS provider list, and a VA Community Care network participant.

“What happens after I apply?”

You get a call. Your member tells their Case Manager. You finish a background check and training, then collect your first weekly paycheck. After sixty days: $500 on your next regular paycheck.

Compensation

Up to about $70,000 a year, depending on the hours authorized. Paid weekly.

Other compensation: $500 retention bonus, paid as taxable wages. It is paid on the first regular payroll after sixty days of continuous employment with verified visits, counted from your first verified shift.

Benefits: paid sick leave, earned at one hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours a year. Training provided by Mercy.
