Surgical Technology Adjunct Lab Instructor

• Assumes responsibility for lab instruction of assigned course(s).

• Facilitates a learning and caring environment, which encourages critical thinking, investigation, self-direction, and respect for the uniqueness of everyone.

• Instruct students in all required lab competencies and patient positioning.

• Oversee practice, demonstration, simulation, and lab remediation

• Remains current with trends, issues, and practices in surgical technology and follows ARC/STSA standards.

• Support the development and maintenance of simulation experiences, laboratory activities, and experiments in the Surgical Technology lab setting.

• Supervise all student activities in the lab setting.

Employment Qualifications

Required Minimum Education:

Associates-Surgical Technology

Preferred Education:

Bachelor's-Higher Education

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: -Knowledge of skills, equipment and technology used in Surgical Technology; ability to teach, coach, inspire, and evaluate students; skillful in interpersonal and written communication.  

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

Knowledge of ARC/STSA Standards; ability to work with a diverse group of students; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Minimum Years and Type of Experience Required:- Have a minimum total of two years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or preferably a combination of both, within the past five years.

Minimum Years and Type of Experience Preferred: - Have a minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years.
