Job Description
The Industrial Electrical Technician troubleshoots, maintains, tests and repairs electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and pneumatic systems and components. Electro-Techs apply knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provides skills to support all areas of manufacturing including AC/DC powered drives, servos, electro-mechanical operations, and PLC’s.
Essential Functions:
- Troubleshoots and repairs equipment.
- Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures.
- Performs preventive maintenance functions.
- Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical equipment, including programmable controllers, variable frequency drives, sensors, power supplies, powered and mechanical drives, gauges and test equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.

Competencies:
- Provide technical assistance and resolution when electrical, mechanical or electro-mechanical problems occur.
- Assemble electrical, electronic, electro-mechanical systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical and electro-mechanical principles, using hand tools, powered tools, and measuring instruments.
- Install and maintain electrical/electronic control systems, electro-mechanical systems, and solid state equipment.
- Modify electrical and electro-mechanical prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional deviations.
- Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and record results.
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering and other personnel to identify, define, and solve developmental problems.
- Build, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical, electro-mechanical instruments, and/or testing equipment.
Work Environment:
This position offers a desk and a computer with email, but it mostly requires work in a manufacturing environment with some airborne paper, moving mechanical parts, industrial lighting, air that is not conditioned, and safety-toe, safety glasses, hearing protection required.
- Pay depending on manufacturing maintenance experience
- Plus additional Reliability Incentive $3.50/hr
- PLUS $3,000 New Hire Bonus
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of experience in mechanical and electrical trade position in a highly technical manufacturing environment.
- Paper converting facility experience.
- Some PLC exposure, Allen Bradley preferred
- Industrial controls experience
- Some hands on mechanical experience
- Some experience involving proximity, limit switches, magnetic contactors
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 5 years of experience in mechanical and electrical trade position in a highly technical manufacturing environment.
- Robot, case packer and wrapper troubleshooting experience.
- PLC troubleshooting and programming.
Must be able to work rotating shifts every 4 weeks, shift hours are 7am-7pm & 7pm-7am.
