Job Description

Position Description: Fire Deputy
Reports to the Associate Director of Security, Site Security Protection & Response. Directs the activities of the Fire Technicians, and Fire Department/Hazmat volunteers. Maintains the operation, upkeep and expansion of systems. May review, guide and have input to service to the equipment and peripherals application to the operation safely.
The primary activities include and are not limited to the following:
Provides familiarization of systems and procedures and updates to training programs to improve the effectiveness and productivity of the work force. Maintains and keeps appropriate records from shifts and incidents.
May participate in area planning activities including, but not limited to; capital requests, budgeting, forecasts, training, Emergency vehicle replacement and other items as requested by management.
Will act as a liaison with the contracted guard vendor as a company representative and to the Upper Gwynedd Police Department when needed.
Will direct, conduct and coordinate training for personnel, emergency operations and community support with department and volunteer members.
Responsible for plant site fire, spill and assist with security response. Maintains and continuously updates the GEMS (General Emergency Management Systems) manual and Preplans for all site buildings. Conducts/participates with GEMS annual tabletop drill, updates GEMS members and the team site.
Assist as requested, schedules, coordinates and executes all building evacuation drills as required.
Arranges preventative maintenance schedules and initiates and repairs work orders for equipment. In conjunction with maintenance and or vendors support, ensures that the work is completed according to schedule. Acts as a field supervisor on maintenance projects requiring outside contractor services. Evaluated maintenance versus replacement opportunities and develops plans and recommend accordingly.
Coordinates all Fire System shutdowns, including coordination and notification of appropriate personnel, including owners, engineering, utilities, Upper Gwynedd Fire Department, and our corporate insurance provider as needed.
In the event of general plant emergencies after normal operating hours, serves as Incident Commander. Responsible for taking immediate action to protect personnel, facilities, records, materials, and to notify the plant management as soon as possible. Provides a incident report with details after any event.
Maintains operating logs and data to ensure productive, well documented equipment and system performance. Establishes and directs testing efforts required to confirm satisfactory operation. Investigates and interprets all data and reacts to maintain appropriate control and system functions.
Responsible for maintaining adequate spare parts, supplies, tools, manuals, and specialty items necessary for the reliable, efficient operation of equipment/systems in his/her area of responsibility.
Develops and motivates employees in the SSP&R organization, in-order to improve their skills and performance. Provides employees opportunities for development, such as training and cross functional assignments. Attracts and maintains qualified persons, including volunteers in the emergency service organization
Responsible for building effective working relationships by collaborating with others. Consults with and advises appropriate departments to assure that sound engineering assistance is provided to projects and plans to assure conformance with environmental requirements.
Assisting with properly protecting and preserving pertinent evidence that maybe used in an investigation that could lead to corpurte, criminal or civil prosecution. Prepares thorough, accurate reports and/or testimony for possible use in criminal prosecution, civil action or disciplinary cases.
Essential function(s) includes, but is not limited to:
The position will be responsible for the shift supervision of the fire system, fire personnel and as requested security functions.
Provides supervision to hourly union employees, emergency service volunteers and functional direction of less experienced supervisors.
Provides site-wide fire protection and Hazmat response and supervision.
Conducts regular and random inspections of all plant areas of Fire, Life Safety and Security interest. Develops and refines programs for operation, modification, monitoring, preventative maintenance, emergency response and systems coordination.
Conducts fire and if requested, security audits, surveys to test existing controls and evaluate risks involving protection of tangible and intangible company property.
Supervises the enforcement of company regulations concerning security of company property, plant access, traffic control, parking, and employee conduct.
This position is considered as "essential personnel" and will be required to report for work regardless of weather conditions.
Position Qualifications:
Education Minimum Requirement:
B.S. Degree in Engineering Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical and Industrial. Work experience may be accepted in lieu of a formal degree.
Required Experience and Skills:
Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to work on several assignments at the same time with a wide range of contract and our Company's personnel at all levels of management.
Minimum: 10 years’ experience in Fire Fighting and Fire Prevention industry.
Minimum: FF1, FF2, Hazardous Materials Technician Certification (40 hour min), and incident command experience.
Minimum: of 2 years of experience in working with PMs and Job plans.
Experience in using Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access, One Note.
Minimum 2 year lock in to position upon initial hire.
Must pass physical assessment and respirator fit test.
Must be able to lift weight up to 100 pounds occasionally, and be able to climb ladders up to 35 feet.
Subject to immunizations and titers as needed by the business.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
Experience in developing procedures applications, and applying them successfully.
Experience as a Certified EMT, First responder.
Experience developing, coordinating and conducting training programs.
