In this role the Portfolio Manager is responsible for evaluating and contributing input on renewals, modifications and new deals ensuring quality and soundness. Reports to the Market President. Continuously monitors and proactively manages risk/exposure and compliance with Lending/Credit Policy for assigned portfolio. Responsible for evaluating financial performance of borrower and based on a variety of factors, determining an appropriate risk rating.

- Support and serve Business Banking Officers and Market President by providing assistance in structuring, pricing, and loan preparedness.
- Review and analyze new and renewal loan applications, financial statements, and other supporting documentation of borrowers and guarantors to effectively decide credit request.
- Utilize Bank decision making software to properly process, decisions, and document credit request according to Bank policy and goals.
- Communicate loan decisions and recommendations to branch staff, Business Banking officers and other department personnel.
- Make recommendations to loan officers/committees on credit being reviewed.
- Provide guidance and support to Hattiesburg Market on credit and loan application review, deal analysis, and loan structure.
- Monitor and remain apprised of banks underwriting practices and assist in communicating these practices.
- Direct loans through due diligence and documentation processes.
- Seek to maintain appropriate levels of Credit Quality in origination, renewal, and portfolio monitoring of small business loans, consistent with overall objectives to the bank.
- Manage and service a portfolio of existing loans and assist team members with theirs, as well as working with the branches.
- Provide appropriate turnaround time on loan applications, meeting the minimum service goal for the bank.
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the field of Lending.
- Experience using financial software.
- Experience with in-house loan documentation software.
- Strong analytical, verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Must be detailed-oriented, demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills,
- Must have a positive attitude and a commitment to outstanding service.
- Must be a responsible and independent worker who can interact well with all other members of the team.
