Reports To: Director of Campus Safety
Summary:
Assist the Director of Campus Safety in overseeing the security and general safety operations of the Academy. Maintains liaison with various enforcement agencies outside the Academy. The work schedule is variable with both day, evening and midnight shifts. May require weekends, especially for special campus events.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform campus safety duties to include physical inspections of all buildings, patrolling the entire campus and perimeter, and checking for vehicles or pedestrians after hours to determine reason for presence.
- Write and submit activities on the campus safety report during each shift worked.
- Be visible and available to students, employees, and visitors. Engage positively with all constituents.
- Assist with the management of campus safety officers who maintain the general physical safety and security of the campus and buildings. Periodically check on campus safety personnel working the evening and nighttime shifts.
- Recommend emergency preparedness and prevention procedures, actions or equipment to ensure the ability to maintain safety and security of the campus.
- Assist with the development of campus-wide safety and security policies manual.
- In conjunction with the director, train campus safety officers to respond to emergencies impacting the campus and academy community.
- Ensure registration of all on-campus vehicles.
- In coordination with Residential Life and Dean of Students, conduct or assist with emergency drills for all campus buildings.
- Help with campus special events, specifically setting up changed traffic patterns or coordination from the local fire and police departments when needed.
- Weekly scheduling of personnel to manage 24x7x365 shift coverage.
- Scheduling personnel for campus events. Graduation, Reunion Weekend, etc...
- Assist in managing full time and part time staff budgets.
- Assist Key management. Track key issuance/return via computer program.
- Participate in administrative meetings. Example - CRISIS and ERM committees.
- Assist in training event staff for on campus events.
- Create policies for campus safety officers and event staff.
- Maintain a presence at all large campus events. Example - school meetings, dining hall details, sporting events, etc.
- Assist with FOB and Schlage Management.
- Assist with being a liaison with PA State Police, local police, EMS and Franklin County Dispatch Center.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal relationship skills
- Ability to train and supervise campus safety personnel.
- Must possess leadership and organizational skills
- Must carry a firearm in the performance of their assigned duties
- Must be able to deal with physical and emotional stress in normal and unpredictable situations.
- Able to communicate in English with staff and the public.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 10 years law enforcement experience. School experience preferred.
- Act 235 and 67 required.
- High school graduate. Degree preferred.
- Computer literacy (word processing, spreadsheet management, internet, e-mail, scheduling, and database software programs.
- Current drivers license required.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction, to determine proper and complete cleaning.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
