Part-Time Bookkeeper – Large-Scale Farm Operation
Location: On-site at 8981 Bond Street, Overland Park, KS 66214

About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable Part-Time Bookkeeper to manage the core accounting functions for our large-scale farming operation. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, understands agricultural financial workflows, and can maintain accurate records that support strategic decision-making. You’ll play a crucial role in keeping our books clean, compliant, and up to date.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Recordkeeping
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records, including expenses, revenue, vendor payments, and payroll entries.
- Track accounts payable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and loan accounts monthly.
Farm-Specific Accounting
- Categorize and track expenses related to crop production, livestock, equipment, feed, seed, chemicals, fuel, and labor.
- Support cost-of-production tracking and assist in analyzing operational profitability.
Reporting & Budgeting
- Prepare monthly financial statements (income statement, balance sheet).
- Assist in developing and monitoring budgets for crops, livestock, capital projects, and operational costs.
- Provide financial insight to support planning, forecasting, and investment decisions.
Software & Systems
- Maintain bookkeeping software such as QuickBooks Online.
- Organize and digitize receipts, invoices, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with CPA or external tax preparers during tax season.
Qualifications
Required
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper, accounting clerk, or similar role.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, account reconciliation, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online) or similar accounting software.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines.
Preferred
- Experience working with agricultural or rural business accounting.
- Familiarity with farm production cycles, cost centers, and agricultural expense categories.
