Staff Accountant – Mercer Zimmerman
Position Summary

Mercer Zimmerman, a top Midwest lighting manufacturer representative, is looking for a Staff Accountant to join the corporate Accounting/HR team. This role will support the financial operations of multiple entities - addressing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial records, and assisting with monthly and year-end close processes. This role works closely with sales, operations, and leadership to support accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting across multiple profit centers.

What you’ll be doing…
General Accounting
- Maintain accurate general ledger records and journal entries
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank and credit card accounts
- Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for financial statements
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process vendor invoices, expense reports, and payables
- Manage customer invoicing and receipts
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and assist with collections as needed
Other
- Assist with tracking and reconciliation of sales commissions
- Maintain job/project-level financial records and reporting
- Ensure adherence to internal accounting policies and controls
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows and reporting
- Provide accounting support for special projects as assigned

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 2–5 years of accounting experience
Skills & Knowledge
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online)
