The Credit Dispute Investigator role conducts investigations into high risk consumer credit disputes in adherence with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Responsibilities include reviewing and responding to escalated consumer disputes and conducting investigations into allegations of fraud and identity theft received through direct or indirect consumer disputes, engaging the Fraud Department where appropriate, collaborating with Fraud Investigators, documenting steps taken to investigate, responding to allegations within the required timeframe, and submitting corrections to credit bureau reporting where applicable.

This position requires a minimum of 2 years of overall work experience. Preferred experience includes:
High School Diploma/(GED) Is Required, Bachelor's Degree Is Preferred.

The Credit Dispute Investigator role conducts investigations into high risk consumer credit disputes in adherence with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Responsibilities include reviewing and responding to escalated consumer disputes and conducting investigations into allegations of fraud and identity theft received through direct or indirect consumer disputes, engaging the Fraud Department where appropriate, collaborating with Fraud Investigators, documenting steps taken to investigate, responding to allegations within the required timeframe, and submitting corrections to credit bureau reporting where applicable.
Responsibilities:
- Review all consumer credit disputes that contain allegations of fraud or identity theft, evaluate evidence presented by the consumer, and ensure a reasonable investigation is conducted in accordance with FCRA and FACT Act requirements; escalate suspected fraud / identity theft related disputes to the Fraud Department appropriately; collaborate with Fraud Investigators to conclude investigations and submit credit bureau corrections in cases of confirmed fraud / identity theft. ( 60%)
- Support the investigations into pre-litigation demands related to the FCRA, active defensive litigation cases as it relates to credit disputes and FCRA claims. (20%)
- Conduct reasonable investigations into escalated consumer credit disputes to promptly identify and correct inaccurate credit reporting. (20%)
