What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Receptionist/Front Desk position at Mequon Vein?
Under the direction of the Clinic Manager, the medical receptionist is responsible for the day-to-day greeting of patients, verification of information during the patient registration process, chart preparation and scanning, directing all incoming phone communication to appropriate person, and is responsible for scheduling and cancelling patient appointments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary.
1. Completes and monitors any Insurance related responsibilities such as claim submission, denial disputes, checking of benefits, etc.
2. Submits billing requests to insurance(s)/patient(s) on a timely basis, posts payments, and troubleshoots monetary obligations of the patient.
3. Greets and checks in each patient as they arrive in accordance to safety protocols.
4. Verifies completion of registration paperwork and collects payments.
5. Schedules appointments according to specific timeframes for each procedure.
6. Answers a multi-line phone and transfers appropriately as well as manages outgoing calls.
7. Demonstrates general knowledge of clinic procedures and answers general questions.
8. Prepares patient charts and confirms future appointments.
9. Scans paper charts for both Milwaukee Laser and Body Aesthetics and Mequon Vein.
10. Speaks clearly and in a mature, professional manner.
11. Cancels and reschedules appointments as needed.
12. Maintains the patient waiting area.
13. Ensures all vendors/visitors sign in and complete confidentiality agreements.
14. Demonstrates patience, compassion, kindness and empathy. Provides clear explanations of appropriate patient-related policies.
15. Participates and maintains safety and dignity of patients at all times.
16. Attends required staff, educational, and training meetings as requested.
17. Attends marketing events as needed.
18. Maintains patient confidentiality in accordance with established policies (HIPAA).
19. Participates fully as a team member of the department.
20. Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· 1-3 years experience.
· Previous patient registration/scheduling in a health care setting experience preferred.
· Strong organizational skills, judgment, communication and analytical skills.

· Abilities in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Office). Experience with EMR systems (Advanced MD preferred) as well as physical charts.
