Full time Maintenance
Qualifications: Basic knowledge in plumbing repairs, electrical and mechanical work. Completion of secondary education (high school or GED), six (6) months related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities; experience in long term care setting preferred; willingness to work with older adults and be dedicated to an organization which provides such care and services. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must have a driver's license.
Works under direction of the Director of Maintenance in Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living and Independent Living settings. Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled building and equipment maintenance activities (service repairs and preventive maintenance) in order to ensure the upkeep of buildings (e.g., repairs and replaces plumbing fixtures and pipes; locates and repairs leaks to pipes and valves; replaces or repairs leaks in drains; unclogs drains; replaces drain hoses on washers and similar devices; repairs switches, outlets, fuses, sockets, and breakers; repairs windows, doors, locks, and door frames; prepares and paints buildings; repairs drywall; installs window blinds; checks lighting for bulb replacement; maintains and repairs equipment using appropriate hand, power, and specialty tools; lifts equipment weighing approximately up to 75 pounds onto bench for repair; completes maintenance repair requests as assigned; fuels vehicles and equipment.
Performs light carpentry work as needed (e.g., repairs cabinets, doors, and drawers; changes hardware on doors; etc.); maintains and/or repairs HVAC systems according to skill level; installs equipment (e.g., water heaters,etc.); runs cabling and/or wiring as needed for internet, phone, and other office equipment; removes carpet at time of renovations; finishes floors; lifts furniture onto cart and pushes cart loaded with furniture weighing approximately up to 150 pounds to move furniture such as beds, dressers, televisions, chairs; sets up tables and chairs; hangs pictures; paints, stains and refinishes; tests alarms.
Assists with landscaping and lawn care as needed (e.g., mows lawns; plows snow; trims trees, bushes/shrubs; picks up leaves; clears sidewalks; maintains plants/trees throughout the growing season; waters plants and trees as needed, places mulch in beds as needed and keeps them weed free; etc.).
