QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s Degree in Education
• Valid Building Level Administrator license issued by the Arkansas Department of Education
• Administrative experience preferred
• Experience at the secondary level preferred
• Any alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable and reasonable

JOB GOAL:
To assist the Principal in providing leadership that promotes academic excellence, positive student behavior, student achievement, and a safe and orderly learning environment at the high school level. The Assistant Principal supports instructional leadership, student services, behavior management, school operations, and college and career readiness initiatives while ensuring compliance with district, state, and federal requirements. The Assistant Principal fosters a culture of high expectations, collaboration, accountability, and student success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The performance responsibilities of this position may include but are not limited to the following:
Instructional Leadership
• Collaborate with administrators, teachers, counselors, and instructional staff to develop and maintain a rigorous, standards-aligned instructional program
• Monitor curriculum implementation and instructional practices to ensure effectiveness and alignment with district and state expectations
• Support professional development initiatives that advance instructional strategies, data-informed decision making, and student achievement
• Assist with the analysis of student performance data, assessment results, graduation indicators, and intervention effectiveness
• Conduct classroom walkthroughs, formal observations, and provide instructional feedback to staff
• Support implementation of intervention programs and strategies to improve student achievement and graduation outcomes
Student Management and School Climate
• Lead and support student behavior systems and disciplinary procedures in accordance with district policies and student handbooks
• Promote a positive and inclusive school climate that supports student well-being, engagement, attendance, and socio-emotional growth
• Collaborate with counselors, interventionists, teachers, and support personnel to address academic, behavioral, and attendance concerns
• Assist in the implementation of student intervention plans, behavior plans, and attendance improvement strategies
• Facilitate conflict resolution among students, staff, and families
• Maintain visibility throughout the school campus and at extracurricular activities and events
Administrative & Operational Duties
• Assist in managing daily school operations to ensure a safe, orderly, and effective learning environment
• Coordinate and supervise school safety procedures, emergency protocols, and crisis response plans
• Assist with the development of the master schedule, student scheduling, and course registration processes
• Support oversight of graduation requirements, credit recovery, testing programs, and college and career readiness initiatives
• Coordinate logistics for state assessments, extracurricular activities, assemblies, transportation, and school events
• Assist in hiring, onboarding, supervising, mentoring, and evaluating staff as assigned
• Participate in and lead school and district committees, meetings, and initiatives
Family and Community Engagement
• Facilitate effective communication among students, staff, parents, and community stakeholders
• Foster positive relationships with families and community organizations to support student success
• Represent the school at community events, extracurricular activities, and district functions
• Communicate effectively regarding student concerns, disciplinary matters, academic progress, and school initiatives
Other Responsibilities
• Maintain and promote high expectations for student achievement, behavior, attendance, and professionalism
• Support budget planning, resource allocation, and operational efficiency
• Ensure compliance with district policies, Arkansas Department of Education regulations, and applicable federal requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal within the scope of the position
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Frequent movement throughout school campus and district facilities
• Sitting, walking, and standing for varied periods
• Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs
• Dexterity for keyboarding, office work, and handling school documents
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Education policy on the evaluation of certified personnel.
