The Principal works collaboratively with students, staff, families, and the community to ensure high expectations for learning, behavior, and school culture while maintaining compliance with all district, state, and federal requirements.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field
- Valid Arkansas Administrator Licensure or eligibility for licensure
- Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience required
- Building-level administrative experience preferred
- Demonstrated leadership in curriculum, instruction, school improvement, and personnel supervision
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience deemed acceptable by the Board of Education

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership
- Serve as the instructional leader of the high school by promoting high-quality teaching and learning
- Lead continuous school improvement efforts focused on student achievement and academic growth
- Monitor curriculum implementation and ensure alignment with Arkansas Academic Standards and district expectations
- Analyze student performance data to guide instructional decisions and intervention strategies
- Support effective instructional practices through classroom observations, coaching, and feedback
- Promote college, career, and military readiness opportunities for students
- Ensure graduation requirements and academic standards are met
School Climate and Culture
- Foster a safe, orderly, inclusive, and positive school environment
- Establish and maintain high expectations for student conduct, attendance, and academic performance
- Develop and implement effective student discipline procedures consistent with district policy and applicable laws
- Build positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community stakeholders
- Promote student engagement through extracurricular activities, leadership opportunities, and recognition programs
Personnel Leadership
- Supervise, support, and evaluate certified and classified staff in accordance with district policy and state requirements
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and retaining highly effective personnel
- Facilitate professional development opportunities aligned to school and district goals
- Promote collaboration among teachers, counselors, and support staff
- Develop staff schedules and assignments to maximize instructional effectiveness
Operations and Management
- Oversee the daily operation of the high school campus
- Ensure compliance with district policies, Arkansas Department of Education regulations, and federal requirements
- Supervise building safety procedures and emergency preparedness plans
- Manage school resources, facilities, and equipment effectively and responsibly
- Assist in developing and monitoring the school budget
- Coordinate state assessments and other required testing programs
- Ensure accurate student attendance, discipline, and reporting records
Communication and Community Relations
- Maintain open and effective communication with students, staff, parents, and community members
- Represent the school in a professional manner at district and community events
- Collaborate with district leadership to support strategic goals and initiatives
- Respond appropriately to community concerns and resolve conflicts in a timely manner
- Promote positive public relations for the school and district
Additional Responsibilities
- Attend and participate in meetings, professional development, and district activities as required
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
Physical Demands
- Frequent walking, standing, and movement throughout campus buildings and grounds
- Occasional lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to 30 pounds
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and technology
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and electronically

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy and Arkansas Department of Education guidelines for administrative personnel.
