High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher
Pre-Educator & Arkansas Tourism and Outdoor Recreation Pathways
Mena Public Schools is seeking a dynamic, student-centered educator to serve as the instructor for the Pre-Educator Pathway and Arkansas Tourism and Outdoor Recreation Pathway at Mena High School. The successful candidate will prepare students for careers in education, tourism, hospitality, recreation, and related industries through engaging, hands-on learning experiences aligned with Arkansas Career and Technical Education standards.
Supervisor: HS Principal
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach courses within the Arkansas Pre-Educator and Tourism & Outdoor Recreation pathways.
- Develop and deliver standards-based instruction that promotes career readiness, leadership, and employability skills.
- Facilitate student participation in Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), including Educators Rising and FCCLA.
- Create opportunities for students to explore careers in education, hospitality, tourism, recreation, and outdoor industries.
- Coordinate work-based learning experiences, industry partnerships, guest speakers, field experiences, and community engagement activities.
- Integrate technology, project-based learning, and career exploration into daily instruction.
- Maintain accurate student records, pathway documentation, and CTE reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with counselors, administrators, community partners, and post-secondary institutions to support student success.
- Participate in required professional development and pathway-specific training.
- Foster a positive classroom environment that supports academic achievement, leadership development, and career preparation.

Courses may include:
- Introduction to Education
- Education Technology
- Child Growth and Development
Students explore teaching and learning, educational technology, child development, classroom leadership, and careers in education.
Arkansas Tourism and Outdoor Recreation Pathway
Students investigate:
- Arkansas tourism destinations and attractions
- Hospitality and customer service
- Recreation and outdoor tourism opportunities
- Tourism economics and community impact
- Environmental stewardship and sustainability
- Career opportunities in tourism, recreation, hospitality, and event management
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Arkansas teaching license.
- Ability to obtain appropriate Arkansas CTE licensure and endorsements for assigned pathway areas.
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to student engagement and career readiness.
Preferred:
- Arkansas Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) licensure.
- Experience teaching Career and Technical Education courses.
- Experience sponsoring CTSOs such as FCCLA or Educators Rising.
- Knowledge of work-based learning, career pathways, and industry partnerships.
- Experience in education, hospitality, tourism, recreation, or related fields.
