- Performs skilled carpentry work to support the maintenance of District facilities. 2.Identifies and inspects maintenance and repair needs and safety concerns throughout District facilities; evaluates and makes recommendations to supervisor for the most efficient methods of accomplishing repairs.
- Reads and interprets blueprints and other drawings; assists in estimating and planning project materials, costs and labor requirements.
- Performs structural and finish repairs on buildings.
- Installs and/or assists in the installation of walls and ceiling systems, millwork, roofing systems and floor coverings, doors and windows; installs equipment in windows or walls.
- May prepare specifications for, order, install and maintain locking mechanisms on doors and windows, and maintain master key controls/records.
- Builds, alters, repairs, modifies and/or installs furnishings, fixtures and equipment, including but not limited to playground equipment, picnic tables, fencing, bleachers, concrete or steel structures.
- Assists in supervising the work of helpers, laborers and/or contractors as assigned.
- Assists in maintaining assigned trucks and equipment; performs cleaning, preventive maintenance and simple repair work as required.
- May drive and operate trucks and other vehicles; operates various hand and power tools as necessary to accomplish tasks.
- Performs other maintenance and repair duties as designated by supervisor.
- Performs duties in accordance with all department policies, procedures, and standards of quality and safety.
- Documents labor hours and materials used on assigned tasks.
- Attends training and meetings as required to exchange information and to enhance job knowledge and skills.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
