Brief:
The Childcare Center is designed to provide free, temporary, short-term childcare for the active students of The Excel Center. The Childcare Center is available when students are studying on site or are in class and will serve children up to the age 12.
Position Summary:
Under the leadership of the Executive Director of Academics, the Childcare Center Manager oversees the daily operations of the Childcare Center, supervises staff, ensures regulatory compliance, manages child enrollment and family communication, and maintains a safe, high-quality learning environment for children. As a member of the Leadership Team, the Childcare Center Manager will support organization and coordination of office procedures, and resources for organizational effectiveness and efficiency. The Office Manager will work to advance The Excel Center mission, vision and values.
Additional Functions:
Childcare Center Manager ensures childcare operational structure aligns with State Childcare Standards. Ensure proper training, consultations, and audits are conducted for the staff members to provide a safe and caring environment for all the children. The Childcare Manager is responsible for supporting hiring, training, and coaching of staff assigned to the center. The Manager ensures proper staffing ratios, engagement and monitoring children; while ensuring quality learning and development curriculum, progress monitoring and attention to safety and security.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Creation of standard operation procedures, staff training manual and guidelines for center operations.
- Analyze program metrics to identify attendance trends, academic growth, and childcare barriers.
- Supervising, professional development and staff evaluation.
- Maintaining licensing, safety, and health standards.
- Managing child registration, enrollment, records, and attendance records.
- Maintaining effective communication with visitors, parents and families.
- Overseeing childcare center budgets, supplies, and scheduling.
- Supporting program curriculum and program quality.
- Continually develop and improve best practices using research, benchmarking, networking and associations.
- Promotes consistent communication and exchange of information with school leadership.
- Provide a monthly and/or end of term written report to school director of the programmatic status such as childcare attendance, academic progress, skills being taught, upcoming trainings/event, incidents, etc.
- Ensuring safety is a priority in performing all job responsibilities.
- Supports New Student Orientation.

Interpersonal Relations:
- Maintain professionalism, effective oral and written communication with internal and external business partners, employers, team leaders and students.
- Collaborates with and maintains strong relationships with internal departmental teams, team leaders, and school administration.
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy of data tracking, monitoring, and data entry.
- Ability to work independently and manage time in a high-energy work environment.
- Ability to analyze data for informed decision-making initiative and self-direction.
- Ensures compliance with established school policies, campus guidelines and training.
- Attends and participate in networking and community engagement and outreach opportunities (as needed).
- Strong communicator at a variety of levels, demonstrating effective presentation skills.
- Attends selected departmental meetings for recording of meeting minutes.
- Stays abreast of required training and professional development opportunities.
- The ability to effectively support individuals with various disabilities, personalities, and cultural backgrounds; experience working with at-risk and adult students.
Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or related field required.
- 3-5 years’ experience in a leadership role in childcare or school setting.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, spreadsheets and automated processes.
- Must be able to pass required background screening including criminal background, abuse registry and felony, sex offender, and drug screen.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule during school operating hours.
