JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Cardiopulmonary is responsible for the overall management of cardiopulmonary services including, but not limited to, respiratory therapy, electrocardiography (EKG), electroencephalography (EEG), pulmonary function testing, blood gas analysis, cardiac stress testing, holter monitoring, sleep lab, and related services. The Director of Cardiopulmonary shapes a healthy work environment though clinical leadership skills and functions with include clinical, operational, and fiscal effectiveness. The Director of Cardiopulmonary has direct impact on care and services that patient and families require during their inpatient and outpatient healthcare experience. The Director of Cardiopulmonary achieves a professional culture that successfully recruits and retains expert as well as beginning staff members. The Director of Cardiopulmonary plays a role in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety initiatives for the organization. Compliance with regulatory standards and legal processes are critical to the success of the position. The Director of Cardiopulmonary must have a clear understanding of healthcare dynamics and trends. The position reports to Vice President of Clinical Services for department needs and Vice President of Nursing for clinical nursing if dual role. The Director of Cardiopulmonary must be a representative within the organization and externally as a professional.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

The position requires an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Respiratory Care with passing certification as an RRT. The Director of Cardiopulmonary will be currently licensed and in good standing with the Wyoming State Board of Respiratory Care. Bachelors or advanced degree preferred. Must have at least three years of experience in all areas of Cardiopulmonary and an overall understanding of cardiopulmonary operations. Supervisory experience preferred, but not required. Competency requirements are determined per clinical area. The Director of Cardiopulmonary must have a current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certification.

Job Knowledge and Skills:-
The Director of Cardiopulmonary requires well-honed skills in coaching, motivating, and leading a professional to team to ensure that safe and effective care is delivered. The Director of Cardiopulmonary must have knowledge of systems and can demonstrate competency in Quality Improvement and management of fiscal resources. Must have ability to do project management. Must be able to interpret data to improve outcomes. Must be able to write and implement standards of practice. Must be knowledgeable of regulatory standards. Able to demonstrate abilities with confidentiality, willingness to accept and lead change, shows concern for others, maintains professional and hospital standards of care. Must be able to demonstrate good analytical and problem solving skills to improve patient outcomes. Professional peer relations skills are an essential requirement. Basic computer skills and ability to work with EMRs required.
