What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant - Accounting - Days-FT position at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport?
The Accountant is responsible for activities including payments to contractual agreements, maintenance and reconciliation of various accounts, and various analyses. Performs other tasks related to asset management and general ledger activity.
- Prepare all work papers, general ledgers entries, and required reports necessary to record assigned areas of responsibility
- Record general ledger entries are accurate monthly
- Complete and balance supporting schedules to GL prior to GL month end closing meeting
- Reconcile various general ledger accounting functions as defined and designated
- Maintain accurate records for off-site leases and other asset accounts
- Reconcile miscellaneous bank accounts
- Record necessary journal entries as needed prior to month end close
- Participates as member of the team to achieve various goals, clinical/quality outcomes , and customer satisfaction
- Provides assistance to team members as requested or necessary
- Participates on committees/councils as requested/required
- Communicates operational issues clearly and effectively within the team and outside the team as appropriate
- Safeguards confidential information
- Participates in performance improvement activities
- Successful completion of probation and annual skills/competency requirements
- Regular and timely attendance is required for this job
- Performance of duties will be in compliance with all laws and regulations governing healthcare organizations
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
- Contributes to the daily operation of Accounting by performing other roles as needed
Education:
- Preferred: Bachelor's Degree
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or 2 (two) years of collegiate classes majoring in Business plus 3 years experience working in an Accounting position
Experience:
- Required:
- 3 (three) years working in an Accounting position. Previous experience of a nature which will enable the employee to function independently in an Accounting atmosphere.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge and skills of generally accepted accounting practices. Familiarity with computers and computer based accounting systems
Work Environment: Work is generally performed in a healthcare/office environment.
Physical Demands: Frequent reaching, sitting, walking, and standing may be required. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job.
