What are the responsibilities and job description for the K-1 Special Education Teacher's Assistant/RBT position at Memorial Elementary School?
Manchester Memorial Elementary School is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and dependable Special Education Teaching Assistant to join our Special Education Department. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with special education teachers, general education teachers, related service providers, and other members of our school team to support students with a range of academic, behavioral, social-emotional, communication, and developmental needs.
This position is an excellent opportunity for an individual interested in special education, behavioral support, or a career working with children. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification during the school year with training and supervision provided by the district.
Responsibilities
The Special Education Teaching Assistant/RBT will:
-Provide individualized and small-group support to students in both general and special education settings.
-Assist students in accessing academic instruction and participating successfully in the school environment.
-Implement accommodations, modifications, behavior support plans, and instructional strategies as directed by special education teachers and other professional staff.
-Provide behavioral support using evidence-based practices and strategies established by the student's educational team.
-Collect and record academic, behavioral, and/or functional data as directed.
-Support students in developing independence, communication, social-emotional skills, self-regulation, and appropriate school behaviors.
-Assist with transitions throughout the school day and provide support across a variety of school environments and activities.
-Collaborate closely with teachers, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), related service providers, and other members of the student support team.
-Maintain student confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.
Participate in training, professional development, and supervision related to assigned responsibilities.
-Perform other duties as assigned to support students and the educational program.
RBT Certification Requirement:
The successful candidate will be expected to pursue Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.
The district will provide the supervision and support necessary to complete the RBT certification process.
