Working Foreman / Lead Hand – Civil Construction
Pay: Up to $35/hour - BOE
Location: New Braunfels, TX (Projects within 1.5 hours)
Position Summary:
The Working Foreman/Lead Hand will lead and work alongside a small crew (1–6 workers) in completing civil construction tasks. This role involves hands-on labor, supervision, and jobsite documentation. The ideal candidate has strong construction skills, operates equipment confidently, and communicates professionally with team members and project owners.
Responsibilities:
- Perform manual labor related to concrete installation, erosion controls, grading, compaction, stone/aggregate placement, earthwork, seeding, and site restoration.
- Lead, supervise, and work with crews of up to six workers, or independently when required.
- Maintain accurate jobsite documentation, including employee hours and safety meeting records.
- Interact professionally with coworkers, inspectors, and owner representatives.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Ability to form, place, and finish both flatwork and structural concrete.
- Experience operating construction equipment: excavator, wheel loader, skid steer, bulldozer, etc.
- Ability to operate small tools: hammers, drills, saws, pumps, plate tampers, and similar equipment.
- Ability to read and understand construction plans/blueprints.
- Understanding of jobsite surveying and field measurements.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations and safe work practices.
- Must speak English; Spanish is a plus but not required.
- Willing to work and travel within a 1.5-hour radius of New Braunfels.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Up to $35/hour
- Truck allowance provided
- Per diem based on jobsite distance:
- Less than 1 hour away: No travel or lodging reimbursement.
- 1.0 – 1.5 hours away: $30/day gas stipend.
- More than 1.5 hours away: Company-paid hotel $60/day meal/incidental per diem.
