Melvin’s BBQ is best known for our mustard BBQ sauce, invented by the owner’s granddaddy, Big Joe, in 1933 and passed down through generations. Along with our famous mustard-based ‘que, we serve burgers, ribs, brisket, wings, nachos, and more.

Job Overview
The Back of House Manager oversees daily kitchen operations, ensuring food quality, safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. This role works closely with the Pitmaster and General Manager to manage staff, control costs, and keep service running smoothly during high-volume shifts.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support kitchen staff during prep, service, and close
- Cooks fast paced
- Ensure consistent food quality, portioning, and presentation
- Manage BOH scheduling, training, and performance
- Maintain proper food safety, sanitation, and health code standards
- Monitor inventory, order supplies, and minimize waste
- Assist with recipe execution, prep planning, and line setup
- Collaborate with management on menu changes and specials
- Help manage labor and food costs to meet financial goals
- Lead by example with a positive, team-oriented attitude
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of BOH or Kitchen Manager experience (BBQ or high-volume restaurant preferred)
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations
- Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure
- ServSafe certification mandatory
- Must be available nights, weekends, and holidays
