What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Admin Assistant position at Melmark New England?
- General Responsibilities
- The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing the day-to-day administrative needs of the NursingDepartment, while also working with the program administrative team to ensure that all administrativecoverage is provided. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing phone coverage, filing,typing, arranging routine appointments, data input, organizing systems, and providing customer service tochildren and families of the program.
- This position supports Melmark New England's mission to serve children, adolescents and adults withautism spectrum disorders, acquired brain injury, neurological diseases and disorders, comorbid mentalhealth disorders and severe challenging behaviors. It is required that employees demonstrate theirunderstanding of that service mission through their work behavior and commitment to the students andthe staff who are directly involved in the delivery of that service.
- All staff are expected to adhere to Melmark's Code of Conduct and Standards of Professionalismincluded in the Employee Handbook. It is the responsibility of each staff member to read and familiarizethemselves with the contents of the Employee Handbook and ask questions relative to the application ofthese standards in the workplace if unclear to the employee.
- Basic Qualifications
- Education/Training
- High School Diploma or G.E.D., college background preferred.
- Certifications/Licensure
- Medical Assistant Certification is preferred; employee will be required toobtain this certification if he/she does not have it when hired. A valid US driver's license and a minimumage of twenty-one (21) years old. Must be capable of attaining approved Melmark driver status. Mustmeet Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background check requirements.Successful completion of employer provided certification in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, andMelmark's Orientation Program and New Hire Onsite training program.
- Skill(s)
- Requires computer training, exceptional organizational skills and knowledge of ResidentialServices program.
- Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of office management experience.
- Interrelationships
- Interacts with all Melmark New England departments to provide smooth transitionbetween day and residential needs of Melmark New England individuals.
- $24-$26 hourly rate based on relevant work experience.
