Payroll Specialist (Contract)

Melita is a Payroll, Benefits and HR outsourcing company serving mid-sized businesses across the U.S. and internationally. We are seeking an experienced payroll professional for a 6-month contract engagement with one of our large clients. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years' experience as a payroll professional with experience processing payroll on the ADP Workforce Now platform. This is a full-time contract position with an expected contract term of 6 months and a possible opportunity for a full-time permanent position, reporting to the client's Senior Manager of Payroll.This position will be hybrid (on-site in Redwood City 3 days/week, remote 2 days/week). Job ResponsibilitiesProcessing of full-cycle Weekly payrolls using ADP Workforce Now, including regular, off-cycle, and special payroll runsReview and validate payroll data for accuracy, including hours worked, earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, and benefit deductionsResearch and resolve payroll discrepancies, tax notices, and employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional mannerCoordinate with HR, Benefits, and Client Services teams to ensure payroll data aligns with benefits, leaves of absence, and HR changesPrepare and reconcile payroll reports, registers, and audit documentsInteract with Managers and employees as needed to ensure a high quality, error free payroll experience.Requirements:5 years of hands-on payroll processing experienceDemonstrated experience running payroll in ADP Workforce NowStrong understanding of wage and hour laws and payroll best practicesHigh attention to detail and strong numerical aptitudeFamiliarity with benefits deductions, garnishments, and leave-related payroll impactsExposure to multi-state payroll processingWe may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses.
