Melissa provides global identity verification and address or other enterprise data quality software services that help organizations with know your customer (KYC) initiatives, preventing fraud, reducing costs and improving fulfillment at every point of the customer journey.

Melissa is looking for a dedicated and energetic individual with good organizational, time management, and technical skills to add to its Compliance Department. The Compliance & privacy Specialist would help support Melissa Data's compliance and privacy programs by ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations and managing day-to-day compliance activities as directed by General Counsel and the CIO acting as a key point of contact for privacy-related matters.

This is a full-time position | $30.00 - $35.00 per hour DOE.

Compliance

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Policy and Procedure Management: Assists in developing, implementing, and maintaining company-wide compliance policies and procedures. This includes creating and updating documentation to reflect changes in regulations and internal processes.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Assists or CPO to monitor changes in industry-specific regulations and legal requirements, ensuring the company remains proactive in its compliance efforts.
  • Internal Audits: Helps to conduct regular internal audits and assessments to identify potential areas of non-compliance and recommends corrective actions.
  • Training and Awareness: Helps to develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees to foster a culture of ethical conduct and regulatory awareness.
  • Reporting: Prepares and submits compliance reports to management, highlighting key risks and the status of compliance initiatives.
  • Certifications: Help research, develop and/or improve documentation to maintain compliance with a variety of certifications and third-party audits, such as SOC 2, FedRAMP, HIPAA, ISO 27001

Privacy

  • Privacy Program Oversight: Assists with the daily operations of the company's privacy program, ensuring that data handling practices align with privacy laws such as GDPR, CCPA, and others.
  • Data Subject Rights: Manages and responds to data subject access requests (DSARs), ensuring requests for data access, correction, or deletion are handled in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs): Conducts Privacy Impact Assessments for new projects, products, or services to identify and mitigate potential privacy risks.
  • Incident Response: Assists the Privacy Officer and CIO as the point of contact in the unlikely event of privacy incidents and breaches, assisting with investigation, documentation, and reporting as required by law.
  • Advisory: Acts as an internal advisor on privacy-related matters, providing guidance to various departments on data collection, use, and security.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and possess a strong ethical and professional demeanor. The ability to manage multiple projects, work independently, and collaborate effectively with diverse teams is essential.

Education And/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Law, Business Administration, Information Technology).
  • Apprentice experience in a compliance, privacy, or legal role.
  • Knowledge of global data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Experience with risk management and internal auditing processes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong comprehension and written and verbal communication skills.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for creating policies, reports, and training materials.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess risks and develop effective solutions.
  • Proficiency with common office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
