Role Description/CriteriaSt Andrew’s School is an integral part of the faith community of Werribee and is one of six parish primary schools. St Andrew’s School is governed under the authority of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Limited (MACS) ABN 18643442371. MACS is the employer of employees at St Andrew’s School.We are currently seeking a full time Grade 3 Classroom Teacher to commence in Term 3, 2026.Salary: $79,589 - $118,063, based on experience in accordance with the Teacher scale of the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022 (CEMEA).Candidates must have an ability to plan, work and learn in a team environment. The emphasis of this planning is on Faith-Based Inquiry. They must also have excellent classroom management skills and have a commitment to the ethos of Catholic Education and contemporary pedagogues.St Andrew’s Primary School is committed to providing a safe environment for all students and young people and will take active steps to protect them against abuse. To achieve this the school has developed and actively enforces Child Safety Strategies to ensure that any person involved in ‘child connected work’ is aware of their obligations & responsibilities for ensuring the safety of all children under their care.Areas of ResponsibilityEach teacher is responsible for:

  • Promoting the mission and ethos of St. Andrew’s Primary School through classroom prayer, participation in the liturgical life of the school, and modelling of appropriate standards of behaviour.
  • Demonstrating high levels of professionalism in all activities.
  • Maintaining a positive and effective learning environment through;
  • Well-prepared and engaging lessons, which cater to the range of student abilities and interests.
  • Setting of realistic and challenging academic standards of student performance.
  • Ongoing monitoring of student progress for the purposes of planning appropriate learning experiences and reporting on student progress.
  • Demonstrating knowledge, competence and confidence relevant to the level of experience and maintaining your professional capability according to the AITSL Standards for Teaching at a level commensurate with your experience.
  • Demonstrating commitment to teacher professional development through interest and attendance at appropriate professional learning, commitment to a program of professional study and/or reading, and ongoing links with relevant Professional & Statutory Associations including the Victorian Institute of Teachers.
  • Keeping abreast of statutory requirements in curriculum expressed by relevant professional bodies
  • Maintaining and providing data in relation to each student required for recording and reporting.
  • Maintaining standards of student care and discipline in and outside of the classroom, through support for and implementation of the St. Andrew’s Positive Behaviour Policy and approach as well as attention to rostered duties, e.g. Yard supervision.
  • Supporting the school leadership through:
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Curriculum planning and development.
  • Writing programs and maintaining rolls, as required.
  • Writing student reports per guidelines and within published timeframes
  • Implementing the Wellbeing approach of St. Andrew’s, in particular:
  • Building positive relationships with individual students
  • Encouraging the growth of self-esteem in each student
  • Identifying academic and personal issues which are impacting of the growth and development of each student
  • Referring matters of concern in relation to students to the relevant staff member.
  • Attending and participating in the co-curricular life of the school eg. Sacramental programs, school camps, school, parish and community events, etc
  • It is a requirement that teachers are supportive of the ethos of the school and will demonstrably enact its Policies and support the school’s leadership.
  • Providing a safe environment for all students and young people and to take active steps to protect them against abuse.

Skills/Experience required:

  • Bachelor of Education or relevant tertiary qualification.
  • A strong commitment to Catholic education.
  • An ability to develop and maintain professional and caring relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • An ability to create an engaging, educational, and challenging learning environment that caters for the needs of all students.
  • An eagerness to learn.
  • An enthusiasm to implement a differentiated curriculum and use modern technology to support student learning.

Special Requirements:

  • St Andrew’s School promotes the safety, well-being, and inclusion of all children; therefore, the successful applicant must demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to providing a safe environment for children.
  • The successful applicant will hold the Victorian Institute of Teaching registration.
  • Accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school is preferred.
