Role Overview
Shift Leads are the backbone of our dumpling factory floor. You'll keep production running smoothly by leading a small team of production members, maintaining quality and pace, and stepping in wherever needed - from folding dumplings to coordinating orders. This role is ideal for experienced food production workers who are ready to take ownership of a shift and help others do their best work.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of production members throughout the shift, ensuring tasks are clearly assigned and on track
- Oversee quality and consistency of fillings, dough, folding, packing, and labeling across all production lines
- Monitor production pace and adjust priorities in real time to meet retail and wholesale order deadlines
- Train and guide team members on proper techniques, food safety, and equipment use
- Enforce and model food safety, sanitation, and kitchen organization standards
- Back up the Production Manager as needed, including taking on additional oversight responsibilities in their absence
- Serve as the point of contact for shift-level issues, escalating to management when needed
- Assist with online orders and coordinate occasional customer or vendor interactions
- Jump into hands-on production work as needed - this is a working lead role
About You
- Solid food production background, ideally with large-batch or manufacturing experience
- Prior experience leading, supervising, or informally mentoring a kitchen or production team
- Dumpling folding and/or food manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- Calm and decisive under time pressure, with a knack for keeping a team focused
- Highly reliable, organized, and invested in the long-term success of the team
- Comfortable adapting quickly when priorities or schedules shift
- A love of food and a genuine interest in helping the team grow — including taking pride in family meal
- Comfortable stepping into a management role when called upon and trusted to represent the team's standards
Requirements
- 2 year of food experience, preferably in large scale kitchen operations
- Able to lift 40 lbs and stand for 8 hours
- Knowledge of food safety (ServSafe preferred, training will be provided)
- COVID-19 vaccination required per company policy
Compensation & Schedule
- $22–$25/hour
- Monday-Friday day time hours (7am-5pm)
- Full time >30 hrs/week 4-5 shifts
Paid Time Off:
- PTO: Accrues to 21 days / 168 hours per year (based on 40 hrs/week)
- Sick Time: Accrues up to 5 days / 40 hours per calendar year
