Performance Responsibilities:
- Provides effective leadership and vision for all schools and district in the area of special education and related services.
- Works in collaboration with other school and district administrators as a member of the Medway Leadership Team.
- Engages in activities to promote achievement of the district vision and mission.
- Makes recommendations for program improvement.
- Prepares and submits all special education reports required by local, state and federal agencies.
- Reviews and makes recommendations to the superintendent for the development of the special education and classroom support services budget.
- Administers the special education and student support services budget allocations.
- Writes and manages all special education grants.
- In cooperation with building principals, participates in the generation of performance evaluations of all special education and student support personnel.
- Prepares and submits such reports as may be required by the superintendent or school committee in a timely manner.
- Ensures that the district's guidance services provide for the developmental needs of students, in addition to providing college placement assistance.
- Coordinates home/hospital services for eligible students.
- Makes decisions on appropriate educational placements, services, and transportation for students with special needs both within and outside the district.
- Plans and implements professional development for special education staff members.
- Monitors student support teams.
- Works in partnership with the Medway Special Education Parent Advisory Council.
- Participates actively in job-alike groups at the local and regional level.
- Serves as the district’s 504 coordinator.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the superintendent.
- Appropriate certification
- Master’s Degree in educational administration
- Minimum of five years of teaching experience and at least three years of special education administrative experience
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find acceptable
Salary : $135,000 - $175,000
