About the Opportunity

MedStaff Group is recruiting on behalf of a well-established, growing cardiology practice in Riverhead, NY seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and clinically skilled provider who is comfortable managing patients independently while collaborating closely with board-certified cardiologists.

The ideal candidate will have strong cardiology experience, be fluent in Spanish, and possess the clinical judgment to evaluate, diagnose, and manage a wide range of cardiovascular conditions with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions.
• Conduct comprehensive history and physical examinations for new and established patients.
• Develop evidence-based treatment plans and adjust therapies based on patient progress.
• Manage hypertension, coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, hyperlipidemia, valvular disease, and other cardiovascular conditions.
• Order, interpret, and review diagnostic studies including EKGs, echocardiograms, stress tests, Holter monitors, event monitors, laboratory studies, and vascular imaging.
• Perform routine outpatient follow-up visits and urgent same-day evaluations when needed.
• Prescribe medications and monitor treatment effectiveness in accordance with New York State regulations.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, lifestyle modifications, and preventive cardiovascular care.
• Coordinate referrals, specialty consultations, hospital follow-ups, and continuity of care.
• Collaborate with physicians, medical assistants, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure exceptional patient care.
• Accurately document all patient encounters within the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with clinical guidelines and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Active New York State Physician Assistant license.
• NCCPA certification.
• Minimum of 2–3 years of cardiology experience required.
• Must be able to practice independently and confidently manage cardiology patients with minimal supervision.
• Strong clinical decision-making and diagnostic skills.
• Experience interpreting common cardiology diagnostic tests.
• Fluent in Spanish is required.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and patient care skills.
• Experience with electronic medical records (ECW experience is a plus).
