What are the responsibilities and job description for the After Hours Inpatient Coordinator position at MedPOINT Management?
Summary
This position works collaboratively with other members of the Clinical Care Coordination team to ensure that authorization requests, provider and member inquiries are handled appropriately, within established timeframes and utilizing established guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Generate inpatient authorization numbers
- Archive face sheets and clinical reviews
- Sorting and Processing faxes.
- Send notifications of admission and monitor via email
- Work Holidays and Weekends
- Flexible to cover After hour shift time.
- Process and Filter Higher Level of care emails
- Assists in reaching out to hospitalist for any discharge needs.
- Helps page or call the exchange of contracted specialists and hospitalists.
- Receives and acknowledges calls /messages received from afterhours service timely within 5 minutes.
- Verifies patient’s eligibility using EZ Cap, Health Plan website, Medical website, and Passport.
- Supports Afterhours Nurse Case Managers by following up on bed status, arranging transfer transportation, and confirming arrivals.
- Create/Sends copy of authorization to transportation, SN/Subacute, ARU, LTACH, and hospitals per Afterhours Nurse directive.
- Calls the hospital to request for clinical reviews or medical records and archive into EZ CAP.
- Utilizes hospital medical record system (i.e. Dignity, VPH access, LANES, Premanage, Cerner) to get information such as medical records and archiving into EZ CAP.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Required to covers Holidays and as needed
- Required a High School or GED.
- Preferred an associate degree in a related field.
- Required 3 years of experience in a managed care setting, medical office or facility setting with demonstration of medical administration duties.
- Intermediate knowledge of medical terminology and/or experience with CPT and ICD-10 coding.
Skills and Abilities:
- Intermediate ability to multi-task.
- Intermediate ability to work effectively within group to achieve desired outcomes.
- Required intermediate Microsoft Outlook Proficient in Microsoft Office such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Intermediate demonstrated interpersonal/verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers and management.
Salary Range:
- $18 - $22 hourly
