Duties
- Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and artistry
- Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene in all food preparation areas
- Develop innovative sushi recipes and presentation styles to enhance menu offerings
- Manage ingredient inventory, order supplies, and ensure freshness of all seafood and accompaniments
- Collaborate with team members to deliver exceptional customer service and ensure timely order completion
- Train junior kitchen staff on sushi techniques, knife skills, and presentation standards
- Uphold restaurant policies regarding food handling, sanitation, and safety regulations
Experience
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role specializing in Japanese cuisine
- Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, knife skills, and ingredient handling
- Experience with curriculum development or training new staff is a plus
- Familiarity with classroom management or teaching culinary skills is beneficial
- Background in working with diverse customer groups including children or adults in educational settings
- Culinary experience that includes seafood preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation skills
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and inventory management in a busy kitchen environment
