Job Overview
Medlab Inc. is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Medical Technologist to join our team for day shift. As a Clinical Laboratory Technologist you will be primarily responsible for performing urine and oral fluid toxicology testing on an automated chemistry/immunoassay and LC/MS instruments. Additional duties include performing limited molecular virology testing. Some supervisory tasks, including ordering supplies, quality control review, and harvesting data for Quality Assurance are required.
Responsibilities
- Performs toxicological/chemical analysis on human urine and human oral fluid on automated chemistry-immunoassay instrumentation.
- May perform toxicology confirmation on a LC-MSMS
- May perform limited molecular testing on human respiratory samples.
- Performs quality control checks of instruments, solutions and test results against established standards.
- Logs performance of equipment, including daily temperature checks and humidity checks.
- Prepares reagents, and other chemical solutions as needed.
- Processes and logs patient specimens and enters test results in the laboratory information system(s).
- Collects data and compiles statistics as directed..
- Maintains a clean and safe environment by daily cleaning areas, washing work counter, emptying contaminated trash containers, cleaning up spills and all other duties necessary to sustain an appropriate work area.
- Assist in training and partake in continuing education programs.
- Performs all duties and tasks, technical and non-technical, that may be necessary.
- Ability to communicate clearly and maintain effective working relationships with fellow associates and clients of Medlab, Inc.
Qualifications
- 4 year Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology
- NYS Clinical Laboratory Technician license
- 4 years experience in a clinical laboratory
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications
