Position Summary
The Clinical Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and clinical activities of the pharmacy team while ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of pharmaceutical care. This role serves as both a clinical leader and operational resource, supporting staff development, driving quality initiatives, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of clinical pharmacy staff.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and patient-centered culture.
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and ongoing staff development.
- Mentor pharmacists, technicians, residents, and interns while promoting professional growth and accountability.
- Serve as a resource for coaching, conflict resolution, and operational decision-making.
Clinical Oversight
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care, including participation in multidisciplinary rounds, emergency response activities, medication therapy management, and therapeutic drug monitoring.
- Support complex clinical decision-making for high-acuity patient populations.
- Oversee medication order verification and clinical documentation within the electronic health record.
- Provide guidance on medication safety, formulary management, drug utilization evaluations, and non-formulary medication requests.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on medication safety and patient outcomes.
- Monitor and investigate medication variances, adverse drug events, and other safety-related concerns.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures related to medication preparation, storage, dispensing, and administration.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
Operational & Interdisciplinary Support
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and other healthcare professionals to support organizational goals.
- Represent the pharmacy department on committees and interdisciplinary workgroups.
- Support pharmacy operations, including workflow optimization, inventory oversight, and resource planning.
- Serve as an escalation point for operational, clinical, and customer service concerns.
Qualifications
Required
- PharmD or RPh.
- Active pharmacist license or eligibility for licensure.
- Pediatric pharmacy experience.
- Critical care experience (pediatric preferred).
- Previous supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership in formal or informal roles.
- BLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency training.
- Pediatric critical care experience.
- Experience serving in leadership-focused roles such as residency program involvement, scheduling coordination, committee leadership, or other operational responsibilities.
- Advanced training or graduate-level leadership education.
- Strong leadership potential with a passion for developing and supporting clinical staff.
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Comfortable making decisions in high-acuity clinical environments.
- Demonstrates emotional intelligence, professionalism, and sound judgment.
- Ability to balance clinical excellence with operational responsibilities while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Schedule: Monday–Friday with rotating evenings, weekends, and holiday coverage as needed.

Salary : $140,000 - $210,000
