Position Summary

The Electrical Systems Integrator supports the design, configuration, integration, and validation of electrical systems for custom-built ambulances. This role is ideal for someone with strong vehicle electrical fundamentals who can work from schematic through vehicle-level testing and troubleshooting. The position also configures existing programmable vehicle-control platforms, including Whelen, for Medix-specific applications. Whelen experience is not required; the platform can be taught.

Responsibilities

· Configure existing programmable vehicle-control platforms for Medix applications, including application-specific control logic, inputs/outputs, CAN/multiplex communications, and operator controls.

· Flash/configure controllers and document logic configurations, revisions, and system changes.

· Integrate, prototype, test, and validate electrical systems and new vehicle options before production release.

· Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, control-logic, and communication issues; support production electricians, end-of-line testing, and service needs.

· Partner with Engineering, Production, Purchasing, Sales, and suppliers to ensure designs are manufacturable, reliable, serviceable, and compliant with applicable requirements.

· Support continuous improvement, root-cause analysis, ECNs, and development of new electrical features and options.

Qualifications

· Associate or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related field; equivalent practical experience will be considered.

· 3 years of relevant experience with vehicle electrical systems, electrical design, controls configuration, or similar technical work.

· Strong understanding of 12V/24V automotive electrical systems, including power distribution, relays, circuit protection, and vehicle accessories.

· Experience reading and creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, connection tables, or panel layouts using CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar.

· Working knowledge of CAN bus, multiplex vehicle electronics, inputs/outputs, and control logic.

· Strong hands-on electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, with the ability to learn and configure logic-based vehicle-control platforms.

Preferred

Experience in emergency vehicles, specialty vehicle upfitting, automotive, RV, transportation equipment, or a similar environment; OEM chassis integration; battery management, inverters, shore power, or design-for-manufacturability experience.
