What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wealth Management Client Advisor position at Medina Law Group?
Most financial advisors spend half their time prospecting and half their time scrambling to serve clients. We separated those functions so both can be done exceptionally well. We need someone who wants to own the second half — deeply.
What This Role Actually Is
You’ll be the primary advisor for 150-200 client relationships (building to that over 3 years). Your clients have already decided to work with us. Your job is to make sure that decision pays off for the rest of their lives.
That means:
- Leading quarterly and annual client meetings to review progress, adjust plans, and ensure they stay on track
- Executing plan implementation with precision: account transfers, beneficiary coordination, trust funding, custodian resolution
- Coordinating across disciplines: working with our in-house legal team (Medina Law Group) to integrate estate planning, tax strategy, and wealth management
Why This Model Works
Our Selling Advisors and marketing engine build your book. You’re not responsible for prospecting, seminars, or client acquisition. That frees you to do something rare in this industry: focus entirely on making existing clients successful. Managing 150-200 relationships with the depth we expect requires:
- Technical fluency across retirement income planning, tax optimization, estate coordination, and insurance
- The ability to lead client conversations with confidence and build long-term trust
- Obsessive attention to detail because a missed RMD deadline or wrong beneficiary designation can devastate a family
- Proactive thinking (anticipating problems before clients know they have them)
You’re the Right Fit If You:
- Have 3 years in financial services with demonstrated technical depth in retirement planning
- Hold (or are actively pursuing) Series 65 and Life & Health licenses
- Have led client meetings before — you’re ready for relationship ownership, not observing
- Understand retirement income planning (not just portfolio management): withdrawal strategies, Social Security optimization, annuity mechanics, RMD rules, Roth conversions
- Want to work where tax strategy and estate planning aren’t afterthoughts — they’re integrated from the start
- Are detail-oriented because you know a small mistake can derail a client’s retirement
- Would rather serve 150 families exceptionally than 300 families adequately
- Want hard problems to solve and high standards to meet
You’re Not the Right Fit If You:
- Think “holistic planning” just means asking about goals and picking model portfolios
- Are uncomfortable with complexity (estate documents, trust coordination, multi-year tax planning)
- See this as a stepping stone rather than a career
