Job Summary:
The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring safe, accurate, and compliant medication dispensing while providing clinical support in a long-term care pharmacy setting. This role includes medication review, compounding, regulatory compliance, and oversight of pharmacy staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review medication orders for appropriateness (drug, dosage, route, interactions, and patient-specific considerations).
- Ensure accuracy and compliance in medication dispensing and documentation per state and federal regulations.
- Prepare and oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding, including IV therapy.
- Conduct audits of automated dispensing systems.
- Provide clinical support and respond to medication-related inquiries.
- Supervise and guide pharmacy technicians and staff.
- Support compliance initiatives and participate in quality improvement plans.
- Maintain proper documentation, inventory, and operational workflows.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited institution.
- Active, unrestricted Texas Pharmacist License (TSBP).
- Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Long-Term Care pharmacy.
- Familiarity with Frameworks LTC software (preferred).
