Sr. Accountant

Job DescriptionSr. Accountant - Medical Data Systems, Inc.This position will be responsible for all day to day accounting operations, developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures, and the processing of licensing information to ensure accurate and timely financial statements and state licensing.  The Sr. Accountant supervises two accounting staff and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is completed in a timely and accurate manner.  This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, controls and process efficiency.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:·         Manage assigned accounting functions including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger.·         Manage assigned licensing functions including processing and tracking of licenses.·         Oversee the management of the Accounts Receivable client’s customer service·         Manage process and controls compliances for accounting functions assigned.·         Monitor and review month-end closing, including the coordination with staff to ensure timely monthly closings.·         Prepare and coordinate month-end schedules, management reports, and account reconciliations as assigned.·         Assist in internal processes, policies, and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.·         Document various internal control structures to ensure compliance·         Review, approve, and/or prepare monthly journal entries.·         Review, approve, and/or prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations.·         Review reports and records for accuracy and proper placement in accounts.·         Monitor trends and make recommendations for accruals and reserves, make adjustments as required and prepare detail for financial statements.·         Assist with operating expense review and variance analysis as necessary.·         Assist in the safeguarding, tracking, and reporting of fixed assets.·         Review accuracy and GAAP reporting of accruals and reserves such as legal and professional fees.·         Manage day to day operations questions and approvals as required.·         Manage activities of accounting staff in the execution of accounting functions.  ·         Assist in interviewing, hiring, and training of assign staff by providing direction and mentoring.·         Develop and communicate performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of staff as a department and as individuals.  Evaluate performance and provide counseling and coaching to employees.·         Manage personnel including performance, development, training and cross training, goals and objectives.OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:·         Perform or assist with any departmental operations, as required or directed to maintain work flow and meet production schedules and requirements.·         Maintain safe work areas and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules.·         Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, increase efficiency and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements and policies.·         Recommend revisions to control documentation such as check lists, operating procedures and policy manuals.  Make and distribute authorized modifications as required.·         Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.·         Perform other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements·        BA/BS accounting degree required with at least three years of experience in accounting·        Demonstrated ability to communicate and present effectively at all levels of the organization·         Experience in delivering client-focused solutions based on customer needs·         Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail·         Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills·         Excellent verbal and written communications skills·         Ability to work extra hours during critical times Company DescriptionMDS is a proven, trusted and innovative leader in revenue cycle management. Salary : $75,000 - $95,000
