Duties
- Prepare, review, and analyze journal entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis to verify the integrity of financial data across multiple systems such as Workday, SAP (PeopleSoft), or Sage.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and collections using software like Paychex, ADP, or Ceridian.
- Support payroll management activities by processing payroll through systems such as Kronos, UltiPro, or ADP while ensuring compliance with tax regulations and labor laws.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including general ledger reconciliation and financial statement preparation.
- Participate in internal controls testing and documentation related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance to safeguard company assets.
- Contribute to budgeting, financial forecasting, and variance analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Skills
- Strong understanding of accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft; experience with multiple platforms is a plus.
- Proficiency in financial concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
- Knowledge of payroll management systems like ADP or UltiPro along with tax experience related to payroll taxes and filings.
- Familiarity with governmental accounting standards and non-profit accounting practices is advantageous.
- Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing) and attention to detail for account analysis and bookkeeping tasks.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data using analytical skills for budget management and credit analysis.
- Strong math skills combined with a solid understanding of financial services concepts; effective communication skills are essential for cross-department collaboration.
