Medical Associates has a Fulltime opening for a Medical Laboratory Technician. This position is responsible for providing technical support for laboratory operations. Medical lab technicians prepare samples for analysis, use equipment to locate microorganisms, monitor tests and procedures, analyze the chemical content of fluids, and test for drug levels in the blood.
Education: High school diploma. Successful completion of medical technologist, medical laboratory technician, or certified laboratory assistant program. Valid certification required.
Experience: Minimum two years of laboratory experience, preferably in clinic setting.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
- Performs technical laboratory functions including chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, immunology, and other tests.
- Performs phlebotomy as needed.
- Organizes work and ensures patient safety by matching computer orders with specimen labeling.
- Reports test results following clinic protocols timely, alerting physicians and/or nurses immediately of critical results.
- Ensures quality control in collecting specimens and in ensuring appropriate sampling and record keeping.
- Maintains equipment, instruments, and supplies as needed.
- Complies with all quality assurance policies and procedures, accreditation
standards, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations related to safety, cleanliness, and infection control.
- Contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, physicians, and co
workers.
