About the Role
A major business media brand focused on entrepreneurship and the American economy is offering a one-year Editorial Fellowship for recent college or master's degree graduates. This is a dual-track role that combines reporting and writing with administrative support for the editor-in-chief, giving the fellow both editorial experience and visibility into the business side of running a national publication.
Fellows will spend roughly 19-20 hours per week on editorial projects, reporting, and writing for the brand across its platforms. The remaining 15-16 hours support the EIC with scheduling, travel, expenses, visitor coordination, and event logistics. Where appropriate, the fellow may observe or participate in meetings with visiting executives and support live journalism events based in New York City. A proposed curriculum is available for review.
This position requires in-office presence at the company's office in Lower Manhattan on Tuesday through Thursday. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.; visa sponsorship is not available.
What the Role Covers
- Reporting and writing for the brand across a 12-month editorial curriculum
- Interacting with journalists and business leaders throughout the year
- Supporting the editor-in-chief with scheduling meetings, arranging travel, submitting expenses, and coordinating VIP visitors
- Working with facilities on company gatherings
- Occasionally supporting the editorial team at live journalism events in NYC
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Previous journalism experience at a college newspaper, magazine, website, TV or radio outlet, or a news organization internship
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and strong time management
- Ability to coordinate multiple meetings and priorities simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Office, and related productivity tools, with the aptitude to learn new systems
- Flexible team player who adapts to new challenges
- Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain company confidences
