What are the responsibilities and job description for the Press Operator position at Media News Group?
Summary:
Introduction to the operation of the printing press. Includes handling of newsprint rolls, preparing for operation, plating, running of the press, and cleaning and routine maintenance.
What you will do:
- Under supervision, will train on operation of the press units, including plating, setting ink and rollers, webbing, and operating controls
- Newsprint roll handling, newsprint warehouse operations, and reel room operations
- Operate forklift/clamp truck in a safe, competent manner
- Press maintenance tasks
- Work in a safe manner using all appropriate safety equipment, including guards and safe buttons
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
What you will bring:
- Ability to read and understand instructions and work with machinery
- Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Regular and reliable attendance
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Previous machine operation experience preferred including warehouse operations experience, including fork lift operation
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- This job operates in a warehouse and printing plant environment. This role routinely uses pallet jacks and forklifts
- Must be able to work with chemicals, loud noise, dusty areas and moving parts safely and wear hearing protection the entire shift
- This job is not a remote position; employee will report to a production plant
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
- The employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
- Requires the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis. Heavy work may exert in excess of 100 pounds of force to move objects
Benefits and Compensation:
The hourly wage range is $21.00 - $24.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility).
