PROGRAM LOCATION: Missituk Elementary School
Nature and Scope
Medford Public Schools seeks licensed teachers to facilitate a Summer 2026 Elementary English Learner (EL) Enrichment Program currently in grades K–5. The program will blend English language development, literacy, and math instruction with engaging enrichment activities. Teachers will collaborate with the Program Director and play an active role in program planning and development.
Responsibilities
Follow all summer school procedures and district protocols
Participate in two program development meetings with the EL Director
Plan and deliver lessons aligned to WIDA, ELA, and Math standards
Integrate technology into enrichment and academic activities
Maintain accurate attendance records
Complete required planning logs
Develop student portfolios showcasing summer learning and enrichment work
Minimum Qualifications
Valid Massachusetts Teaching License
Experience working with English Learners, including Newcomer students
Demonstrated ability to plan and implement standards-based instruction
Strong communication skills with students, families, colleagues, and administrators
Rate and Schedule
$40 per hour
Mondays through Thursdays, 8:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. (Students attend 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.)
Program Dates:
Monday, June 29, 2026 – Thursday, July 23, 2026
Includes 6 hours of front-loaded planning/meeting time
16 days at 4 hours per day (includes 30 minutes of prep time)
Instructional hours: 64
Planning hours: 6
Total: 70 hours ($2,800), pending Title III grant funding
Optional Afternoon Session
An optional afternoon session (12:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m.) is available for teachers interested in accompanying students to the Medford Recreation Pool and supervising structured recreational activities.
The afternoon session includes an additional 64 hours (16 days at 4 hours per day) at $40 per hour.
