Medical Billing Representative

Medex Diagnostic and Treatment Center is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Representative to support our billing department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing medical claims, resolving billing issues, following up on outstanding balances, and ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement for services rendered.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, review, and submit medical claims to insurance companies, government programs, and other payers.
• Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, identify reasons for denials, and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
• Review patient accounts for accuracy and completeness prior to billing.
• Post payments, adjustments, and refunds accurately into the billing system.
• Communicate with patients regarding their accounts, answer billing-related inquiries, and assist with payment plans when needed.
• Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits as necessary.
• Collaborate with clinical and front desk staff to resolve discrepancies or gather missing documentation.
• Maintain knowledge of current billing regulations, coding guidelines, and payer-specific requirements.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, internal policies, and external payer requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or medical billing certification preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of medical billing experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Knowledge of insurance claims processing, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and EOBs.
• Familiarity with billing software and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Pay: $21.00 - $35.00 per hour
