Position: Senior Benefits Consultant
Client: Large Healthcare Provider
Location: Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid Schedule)
Timeline: 6-Month contract
Position Summary:
This role is responsible for the design, development, and administration of comprehensive benefits and retirement programs. It includes evaluating program effectiveness, recommending enhancements, and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory and contractual requirements. The position partners cross-functionally with leadership, Human Resources, employees, and external vendors to deliver efficient, compliant, and high-quality benefits programs aligned with organizational goals.
Core Responsibilities:
Benefits Compliance & Eligibility:
- Ensure ACA compliance by monitoring eligibility and premium status trends
- Conduct monthly audits of employees transitioning to PRN status and issue required communications
- Perform bi-weekly reviews of ACA-enrolled members to confirm premium payments are current; initiate collection processes as needed
- Oversee compliance communications (mail and email) in alignment with federal deadlines
- Complete Dependent Care FSA discrimination testing
Health & Welfare Plan Administration:
Dental
- Review eligibility reports (e.g., TBO – terms by omission) monthly and process terminations with vendors as needed
- Process urgent eligibility updates within vendor systems
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
- Conduct bi-weekly audits of anticipated deductions and coordinate payroll adjustments
- Manage payroll funding processes with vendors based on deductions and year-to-date contributions
Adoption Assistance
- Review and process adoption assistance applications on an as-needed basis
Open Enrollment & Annual Program Execution
- Plan and execute open enrollment activities, including town halls, benefit fairs, and drop-in sessions
- Serve as primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries during enrollment and off-cycle events
Vendor, Systems & Stakeholder Coordination
- Maintain and update employee benefits portal within required timelines
- Manage shared inbox and ticketing workflows on a rotating basis
- Act as escalation point for benefit-related questions and issue resolution
- Document and maintain notes from legal and compliance meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Nursing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in benefits administration
- Experience designing, developing, and managing benefits and/or retirement programs
- Strong knowledge of benefits regulations (e.g., ERISA, COBRA, ADA, FMLA)
- Experience operating within complex, matrixed organizations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Salary : $34 - $38
