MSD is looking for a Fire & Security Technician to join our team!
The Fire & Security Technician is a hands-on, field-based role responsible for installing, servicing, inspecting, and supporting fire alarm, security, camera, and access control systems for commercial and industrial clients. This position combines strong technical expertise with a high level of customer interaction, ensuring systems are properly installed, fully operational, and clearly understood by clients. Working independently, the technician manages jobs from start to finish, prioritizing safety, quality, and accuracy while coordinating with internal teams to support customer retention and identify additional service opportunities. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, self-motivated problem solvers who can read technical documentation, adapt to evolving technology, and take pride in delivering reliable, professional service that protects people, property, and operations.
The Fire & Security Technician is responsible for installing, servicing, and maintaining fire alarm, security, camera, and access control systems for commercial and industrial clients while providing hands-on client support.
QUALIFICATIONS AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to analyze and understand complex technical writing, schematics, drawings, blueprints, etc.
- Ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal English, including technical writing, speech, and other business correspondence
- Must be detail oriented and well organized
- Valid, unencumbered US Driver’s license
- 3 years combined practical and academic experience in Fire Alarm Installation, cameras, access control, and security
- HS Diploma or GED
- State of Ohio Fire Alarm Installer License
- State of Ohio Sprinkler Installer License (preferred)
Job Duties:
- Installs and service various fire and security equipment
- Work with customer’s to familiarize them with their systems
- Performs routine maintenance on client systems and annual inspections where required
- Coordinate with client key personnel to confirm installation requirements
- Work on your own with minimal assistance unless absolutely needed
- Attend to customers’ needs regardless of how minimal they may seem
